When we came closer to the cave, we could see that there was something coming from the cave that was keeping the strange creatures out.

It seemed to be some kind of barrier that was there that separated the cave from the tide of corruption energy that was against it. It seemed that no matter how the corruption energy pushed, the barrier wasn’t going to break.

Or at least it wasn’t going to break for now.

Though it was clear that whatever this barrier was, it wouldn’t be able to last forever.

Eventually, it would run out of power and disappear.

So before that happened, we had to create a perimeter around the cave and stop the strange creatures from doing anything.

As we came close, I looked at Moon who wasn’t that far behind me and raised the Staff of Earth that I was holding.

She understood what I wanted, so she raised the branch from the Tree of Life as well.

With the two of us working together, we were able to create two walls in front of the cave.

One was a wall that was made from divine energy earth. The other was a wall that was created by vines raised by the branch from the Tree of Life.

Once these two walls were formed, the strange creatures were pushed back.

These walls weren’t strong enough to completely stop them, but they were enough to impede them.

The earth wall wasn’t tall enough to stop the strange creatures from jumping over it, but it contained divine energy that was effective against the strange creatures. When they jumped over it, it actually caused them to be assaulted by the divine energy.

The wall of vines also wasn’t that tall, so the strange creatures could jump over it.

But the moment that they did, there were vines that came out to stab these strange creatures as they were flying through the air.

One slowed them down and one directly attacked them.

This pushed back the strange creatures as they realized that it wasn’t easy for them to push through these walls.

That created the perfect space for the rest of our group to push up to the entrance of the cave.

But we didn’t enter the cave or do anything against the barrier.

Instead, everyone took positions behind the walls.

These walls hadn’t just been created to push back the strange creatures, they had also been formed to create a wall against the strange creatures. It was a form of cover that we could fight behind.

With this cover protecting us, it was easy for us to push back the strange creatures.

But even though we were massacring them, it didn’t seem like the strange creatures were planning to back down. With the way that they continued to charge the cave even though they were being wiped out, it really seemed like there would be no end to them.

However, it wasn’t as if there were endless amounts of the strange creature in the first place.

Even if this was a place that they had already taken over, there were only so many of them along with the corruption energy.

It was even harder for the corruption energy to push in when Ariel made her move.

Once she released the mist, it purified all of the corruption energy that wanted to approach the cave. The corruption energy was already weakened from all of the attacks, so the mist was the final blow.

With the mist, the area around the cave was completely purified and became an isolated zone.

With the mist in place, we were able to create even more walls that kept all of the strange creatures and corruption energy away from this place.

Once this was established, we could finally catch our breath.

But there were those that remained on the walls and watched the corruption energy and strange creatures in the distance. They didn’t want to give them any chance to cause any trouble at all.

During the time that they secured the area, I went towards the cave with the Dwarven King.

When we arrived at the cave, there was a gap that appeared in the barrier and there were some small figures that walked out.

They just completely ignored me as they headed in the direction of the Dwarven King.

Once they came forward, all of these small figures bowed to the Dwarven King to show their respect, but the Dwarven King just waved his hand to stop them.

"What is going on here?"

The ones that came out were gnomes and all of them showed knitted brows when they heard this.

Then the eldest one among the gnomes came forward to say with a shake of his head, "We really don’t know. It happened all of a sudden that we didn’t even get the time to figure out what these things are."

The Dwarven King slightly knitted his brows as well, but then he said, "Are there more of you that survived? If so, where are they?"

Once again the eldest gnome shook his head before saying, "We don’t know. We ran from our village as soon as those strange creatures appeared and then we used our last barrier potions to form this barrier that protected us. If it wasn’t for you arriving in time, I really wouldn’t know what would have become of us."

All of the gnomes had grim looks on their faces after the eldest gnome said this.

But instead of listening to them, the Dwarven King turned to look at me.

I shook my head in response to this.

I knew what the Dwarven King was looking at me for, but I didn’t sense a trace of corruption energy from the gnomes. I had become much more sensitive to things like this after that divine energy appeared inside of me, so I was certain that there wasn’t a trace of corruption energy on these gnomes.

The problem was that we didn’t know where to go from here...
