Once we arrived at the entrance of the ruins, we saw that there was a camp that was already set up there.
The scouting team from the Holy Empire had already prepared everything.
At the same time, it seemed that they had invested quite a lot with the state of the camp.
This camp almost seemed like a small village with the size of it.
It really seemed like the Holy Empire didn't hold back at all when it came to exploring these ruins.
It seemed like they were very determined to find this Relic of Destruction.
But I was disappointed by what I heard when I arrived at the camp.
"We don't have anything. We've been here for over a week now and we've barely been able to explore the ruins. This place is just too big for us to explore, even with all of the people that we have now."
The one who made this report was the saintess who had disappeared from our Kite Kingdom two weeks ago.
Though it wasn't as if she had suddenly disappeared from our Kite Kingdom.
Before leaving, she had made sure to report that she was looking into something related to the Relic of Destruction. She just didn't say that they had found the ruins where the Relic of Destruction was sealed yet.
But now it seemed like she had been called away to lead the group that was here.
Since the saintess was the one that had been in charge here, I couldn't help being disappointed.
The saintess was one of the few in the Holy Empire that could be considered the closest to the gods. As such, she should have been one of the ones that would have received divine intervention in this matter.
She should have been one of the few that would have been led by the gods to the Relic of Destruction.
It was just that this didn't happen.
"Holy son, please take charge of the exploration from now on." The saintess said without a single trace of hesitation in her voice.
It was as if she didn't mind giving up complete control of the Holy Empire group that was here.
At the same time, it seemed like everyone here was more than willing to follow me.
This made me feel a bit uncomfortable.
After all, I knew why they were acting this way.
They were like this because of their faith, but that faith was currently being put in me instead of the gods. That meant that I had become the object of their faith…
For humans to believe in another human, that never ended well.
In most cases, it would end up on the path of becoming a cult…
Thought that wasn't something that I was interested in to begin with.
After thinking for a bit, I said, "Show me what you've found so far before I make my decision. I want to see everything before coming to the best decision."
The saintess was surprised and seemed a bit unwilling to accept this. It was the same for the rest of the Holy Empire group at the camp.
They all seemed like they just wanted to hand everything over to me without a single thought. That was the power of faith showing itself in its full form, they just had no hesitation in trusting me even if they had no basis to trust me.
In the end, they accepted it since I wouldn't budge on this matter.
But what I saw shocked me.
It wasn't that they had a special method or anything, but rather…
"Slow."
That was the only thing that I could say when I saw them exploring the new areas.
The team that the saintess led took their time in walking through the corridors.
At first, it seemed like they explored like normal with the way that they headed through these corridors.
But then it changed once we reached an area that they hadn't explored before.
Instead of walking normally like they had done previously, they started going through the corridor as if they wanted to find every single thing that was here. It was as if they didn't want to miss a single thing that could be found with the way that they moved through the corridor.
The saintess was the greatest offender when it came to this, as she made sure to nag anyone that didn't seem to be serious enough.
It was as if she wouldn't let a single thing be missed under her gaze.
But it wasn't just that they wanted to make sure that they didn't miss the Relic of Destruction.
I could see that it was clearly because of something else that they were acting like this.
This place was a place that had been created by the gods to seal the Relic of Destruction in the first place. That meant that this was a place made of materials created by the gods.
As members of the Holy Empire, it was only natural that they recognized this as well.
So while they were searching for the Relic of Destruction, that wasn't the only thing that they were doing. They seemed like they were also enjoying themselves as they searched through these ruins.
It was more like a hobby than they were on a job.
I shook my head with a bitter smile when I saw them like this.
I finally figured out why they made so little progress in the first place.
But there was a part of this that couldn't be blamed on them.
After all, there was nothing guiding them this time.
In the last ruins, we at least had the flames that Joan was spewing out to guide us along the way.
This time…
Actually, as I was thinking about this, I suddenly came to a conclusion.
"What if Joan used her flames again?"
There were plenty of people here and there wasn't the threat of the corruption energy, so it wasn't as if it was impossible.
The more that I thought about it, the more that I felt that this would work…
