363. The Mural Painting in the Ruins
I asked Eldia what the carvings outside the gate mean.
It took me a while to recover from this supposed big father-son reunion event, but I eventually remembered the reason why I explored this place.
I came here to find out why there are letters and characters of my previous world carved on the murals in the front gate.

Then, Eldia moves his large body aside and reveals the wall behind him.
There’s a large mural engraved with many carvings, including Japanese characters and some alphabet.
And, just like in the one on the front gate, all these word structures don’t make sense, and there’s even a few characters, like “ra” (ら) and “ru” (る), that look like they’re mixed together.
…… Maybe it could just be a different language altogether?
No, that can’t be. Other than the mixed characters, everything else is the same……

The mural is just too abstract for me to understand.
Besides the letters, there’s also a giant eyeball-like drawing with six people lined up under it.
It doesn’t look like a very detailed painting, but more like a deformed one. It was as if it only took 10 brushes per person.
The eyeball painting, on the other hand, is basically just circles drawn over each other.

So, it’s like a legend or a myth about this world.
After hearing that story, the picture kind of makes sense now, especially since, even though they’re all bipedal, there’s one with a wolf head, a few who have wings, and another one whose head looks like a skeleton from the neck up.

This is all too much for me.
…… Wait a second, this has nothing to do with my past life, is there?
I try my best to stay focused on Eldia’s story time so he doesn’t find out I’ve lost my interest.

I’ve heard of demi-humans (亜人 ajin), but not magi (魔人 majin).

I look away from Eldia and start thinking.
…… Yes, I remember I used to wonder about why only monsters can evolve.
In this world that is seemingly being run by a system, levels exist, and being able to evolve or not can greatly annul the significance of that level.

The difference in appearance and nature that we have just leaves a wide gap, and continues to grow wider.
That very difference is what’s made me suffer so much all this time, even though I’m supposed to have that same line of thinking.

Partner has been having trouble keeping up, but I attentively paid attention to everything Eldia has shared with us.
