Afterword
And there you have it, this ninth volume of "Magian Company".
How was it? Did you enjoy it?
One of the many benefits of writing a story set in the real world is that you don't have to worry about making your own maps and locations. You'll have to check distances and time differences, but you can avoid inconsistencies in that aspect as long as you're willing to do some homework.
And when you do your own planet and continents, you have to consider things like geographical features, climate and so on. The number of factors you have to take into account is nearly infinite, so it would be difficult without using something like AI.
But the benefit comes with its disadvantages. In this case, it limits the freedom of the work. Land is there and it is finite. How it can be reconfigured in a way that makes sense. Or, conversely, how to fit the stage into a small world where this reconfiguration is not necessary? Such are the choices and constraints that must be faced.
This series has finally grown to the point of running into this challenge. If I were to expand the main characters' territory, without care, I'd only be creating a disaster. So, how do we balance this is the real question...
In this ninth volume, the first decisive steps towards political independence for magicians have finally been taken. Whether it will be limited to a self-governing entity or will proceed to expand outwards into an empire is a question, we will have to wait and see! Well...
I say that, but the current base is too small. I have an idea of how to expand this base, but I'm a little worried that it might come off as too ridiculous or lacking in realism.
Speaking of finallys, the narratives from "Magian Company" and "Cygnus Maidens" have begun to truly intertwine. My original intention was to have these two share the same world and time while remaining two separate storylines. But since they share similar or the same circle of characters, it was impossible to completely disentangle one from the other.
Which is not to say there are plans currently to bring the heroines from "Cygnus Maidens" into the "Magian Company".... unless I get too bogged down with ideas. However, please be assured that the "Cygnus" heroines will not join the "Magian" heroines.
The next volume will be the seventh volume of “Cygnus Maidens". Considering how heavy all the series have been lately, I am aiming for a light, everyday tone with this one. Please look forward to it.
I would like to conclude this afterword by saying: Thank you very much for your patience up to this point. I look forward to seeing you again in the future.
