Afterword
With this I conclude this issue of "Magian Company 5". I took the liberty of covering various elements to this volume, I hope everyone enjoyed it.
Recently, I have been experiencing a creative slump of sorts. I assume I may be lacking in input. All I've been reading lately consists mostly of reference materials, the time I spend watching anime is less than one-tenth of what it used to be, and I seldom watch any movies.
I made an effort to consume more movies and anime recently. I've also planned to read as many novels and manga as possible, including light novels, of course. Although, I still can't get into dramas.
On the topic of movies, I watched some that caught my attention on a certain subscription service. But in many cases, I get bored after the first 20 minutes or so. They just don't seem to click with me, do you know what I mean?
But I am still learning a lot. Like, how important is the introduction, and "the catch" so to speak.
But I am still learning a lot. Like, how important is the introduction, and "the catch" so to speak. I am sure the same thing applies to novels. Although there is not much of the "browsing in the bookstore" anymore, I have been pondering on how the "trial reading" of electronic book stores will have a similar great impact on the success or failure of a book.
Yes, it may sound absurd that such a rudimentary idea would only come to me at such a later stage, but it is true.
If I may share a personal recollection, when I was young, I used to make it a habit to spend an hour or two at a bookstore when looking for a new paperback or book. I would browse through an entire book and bring to the register the one I wanted to read again. In hindsight, I was an quite inconvenient customer, who would dirty up the books.
Perhaps it is because I always focused on the mid to last stretch of a work that I have a bad habit of dragging too much in the beginning. But now looking back at my tendency to grow bored with the introduction of a movie, I am painfully aware this is a vice I need to fix…
To clarify, this is not the reason why there are so many pages devoted to battle scenes in the early part of this volume.
Now, this series is finally coming to its good part, if I may say so. However, there is no final boss to be defeated in this work. The resolution of this series lies elsewhere than victory or defeat.
I hope that you will all be there to witness it.
