Character Data

Caerina

Mai-Mai’s daughter. Caerick’s elder twin sister. In other words, Cayna’s granddaughter.

Still a youngster by elf terms at just shy of one hundred years old, she serves as one of the instructors of the Helshper knights. Her strength is said to be the greatest in Helshper, but she was no match for a player leading a group of bandits.

A serious person who is equally harsh on herself and others, yet her fellow knights seem to admire her all the same. She doesn’t return home much and spends most of her days in the Helshper knights’ lodging house. Calls her younger brother dumb and is so obsessed with her work that she can never find love.

Caerick

Mai-Mai’s son. Caerina’s younger twin brother. Has a son named Idzik.

A skilled merchant who runs Sakaiya, a large company that does business across the continent. Spent about fifty years establishing the commerce network that fell to pieces after the seven nations became three. Considered the founding father of the Merchants Guild. Enjoys a little trickery and intrigue in business, but don’t mistake him for a corrupt merchant. Although he initially upset his grandmother Cayna, once they made up, he’s enjoyed helping her in all sorts of ways. His greatest concern right now is finding someone to take his twin sister’s hand in marriage.

Afterword

Hello. This is Ceez. Thank you very much for picking up In the Land of Leadale, Vol. 2. I’m pretty sure there aren’t any other people like me who read the afterword first, but I’d be happy if you take this book up to the register.

This time, I’ve realized that I am absolutely terrible at time management. I’m really just reaping what I sow, but being a slow writer isn’t a good thing. I must have repeated the process of writing, rereading, erasing, and writing some more at least a million times. By the time the cover illustration was done, I was only about 20 percent finished…

There are two new characters in this book who didn’t appear in the Web version, so I did some rewrites. The task of fixing my original manuscript continued even as time closed in on me and created a daily cycle of quickly deteriorating health. Once I made the change, I couldn’t go back. There was a lot of suffering involved, so I hope Mimily and Li’l Fairy grow on you.

Also the shadow of you-know-who finally appeared. Those who have read the Web version know exactly who I mean.

Tenmaso, thank you again for the cover art and insert and interior illustrations. At first, I was surprised to see you went with a pink cover. When I put it on my bookshelf next to Volume 1, I didn’t think any spines could look more opposite.

Also I’m eternally grateful to my editor, who I caused so much trouble for by submitting my manuscript at the last minute.

Thank you as well to everyone else who has been involved in the publishing process.

Ceez
