The sky darkened as if a pair of spreading wings blotted out the islands. The dreadful stench of blood engulfed the area.
Moreover, it had a rotting effect to everyone’s horror.
“Emperor, please recall your power!” Many inhabitants begged loudly.
“Nine-cries Emperor.” Goldblade’s expression soured: “Recall your death scent!”
“Clank!” He stepped forward and split the sky in half with his blade.
However, the death aura corroded his golden slash, causing it to turn gray.
“Hmph.” The person scowled again, causing some listeners to vomit blood.
“It’s been a long time since I last feasted on someone from Desolate Frontier. Come, fill my stomach.” The nauseating voice came from a different island.
“Nine-cries.” Alch-deer looked startled.
Goldblade stared at Li Qiye, awaiting instruction.
“We can’t refuse an invitation.” Li Qiye smiled.
Goldblade smiled wryly since this was what he wanted to avoid the most.
“Corpse Island is disgusting, there are rotting corpses everywhere.” Alch-deer said.
“Delicious to him.” Goldblade said.
“It’s a shame he escaped back then.” Alch-deer replied.
He knew this ancient emperor - once an evil bird feasting on corpses. One day, he was lucky enough to eat the corpse of an emperor.
With that, he gained intelligence and began to cultivate. Alas, this didn’t stop him from wanting to eat corpses.
He tried to join many sects but everyone refused him. He didn’t give up and surpassed all obstacles, eventually becoming an emperor.
Instead of holding back, he became bolder and once massacred thirty-six sects in a row, slowly feasting on their members.
This attracted Desolate Frontier’s fury. It sent many emperors and desolate gods, forcing him to run to this ocean.
However, he was fortunate enough to find Isles of Evil. He focused on cultivation from then on and became the third-ranked villain. He never left the island afterward. Who knows if it was because of Desolate Frontier or something else?
At this time, he heard about visitors from Desolate Frontier and didn’t want to miss the chance.
Li Qiye and Alch-deer followed Goldblade and arrived at Corpse Island.
Goldblade felt his scalp tingling since he didn’t want anything to annoy this supreme ancestor. Now, Nine-cries Emperor escalated the situation. The guy was an apex emperor so he couldn’t stop him.
The stench of rot greeted them, causing their stomach to churn. Alch-deer, an emperor, still found the scene dreadful.
Corpses at various stages of decomposition were scattered across the island. They varied in age and sex. Some wore extravagant clothes and still had divinity. Others rotted with black liquid oozing out.
A cowardly cultivator would drop to the ground, unable to comprehend the horror.
“This habit is terrifying.” Alch-deer said, noticing some desolate gods among the corpses.
“A villain indeed.” Goldblade smiled.
Of course, no one was more disgusting than Nine-cries Emperor. Worst of all, he didn’t just eat people and preferred to wait until after the rot. This was why he left all these corpses to dry on the island. Even the villains and bandits didn’t wish to come near and subject themselves to this scene.
The group finally made it to his abode - a wooden house that seemed a bit burnt in several spots.
“This house?” Alch-deer found this surprising.
“The heaven can’t catch me so I shall continue to terrorize the world.” Nine-cries’ voice came from the house.
Once they entered, they saw corpses hanging everywhere. A monster was feasting on one - the corpse of a desolate god with no divinity left.
Nevertheless, the monster bird feasted on it with fervor. It was pitch black and gave a sense of decay. It had flickering black flames due to its deathly aura. Perhaps this aura caused its wings to have holes everywhere.
Its head had a hole as well, revealing its brain. Strangely enough, the brain had a resplendent glow of the imperial nature.
None would think this monster was an apex emperor.
