A REASON TO FALL IN LOVE
Six years ago, when Aiz was a full head shorter than she was today, Bete Loga joined Loki Familia. Aiz had no idea what circumstances had led to his admission, but the young werewolf’s mercenary outlook was evidently the reason he looked down on Aiz from the moment they met.
“Ugh. We really takin’ this stinkin’ kid with us? Send her back to the nest before the monsters mess up her pretty doll face.”
“…”
“Nothin’ I hate more than dealin’ with useless women and children.”
His amber eyes heaped scorn on her from on high, and he always seemed to be in a bad mood. The blue tattoo across his brow wrinkled as he mocked her, even in plain sight of Finn or the other leaders of the familia. He spoke as if he wished she would just disappear.
Of course, even Aiz was not made of stone. She responded with a peeved look, but it was so subtle that only Finn and other veterans noticed. Her first impression of Bete was simple—a bully.
Then she went on her first expedition with him.
“Hey, kid. Get behind me so your shakin’ doesn’t throw off my game.”
After reaching the lower floors without issue, the party ran into a pack of monsters. Bete made his usual snide remarks. His words could have been generously interpreted as “Wait right there, and I’ll finish this quickly,” but his callous tone angered the young Aiz. She refused to heed his command.
In a flash, she shot past him, drew her sword, and rushed straight into the horde of large, humanoid monsters known as trolls. With her slim and nimble frame, she slipped easily between their feet, slashing at their ankles and bringing them all crashing down before finishing them off with a slash from neck to breast.
Bete could hardly breathe a word before the entire horde was wiped out.
“Wha…?!”
For the first time, he beheld the Sword Princess. Not a single drop of blood marred her perfect features.
“And that’s how Bete fell head over heels for our Aiz!”
“Whaaat?!”
“How?!”
“All she did was kill a few trolls!”
In the home common room, Tiona, Tione, and Lefiya were astonished by the tale that they had just heard straight from Loki’s loose lips.
At a nearby table, engrossed in a card game, Aiz and Bete looked over, wondering what on earth could be causing such a commotion.
