"Wait, you cannot kill them. You’re bound by the Covenant. You will die, and your soul will scatter."
’Isn’t that good as well?’ Venerable Knight Damien inwardly asked himself as he looked at Venerable Knight Lussandra.
However, remembering the Venerable Hollow Knight’s words, he supposed that this wasn’t a valid way to deal with the Divine Emperor of Death. The other party just had too many tricks up his sleeves..
"You think I’m bluffing?" Davis gently smiled, which was entirely creepy in this situation.
"Go ahead and dare me. I want to see if the Covenant is capable of shattering my soul into pieces or if I can shatter the Covenant instead."
"…"
Venerable Knight Lussandra and Venerable Knight Damien felt like they had no confidence. The calamity before them was someone who innately possessed reincarnation energy and mastered chaos-destruction energy. Suddenly, he was the only exception whom they could think of who might actually break the Celestial Transcendent’s karmic binding technique.
"Don’t be hasty. Our enmity cannot be resolved, but the ones who didn’t even get to throw a fist don’t need to die. If you are not satisfied, I’ll offer my avatar’s life in exchange."
"Lussandra…" Venerable Knight Damien warned her with his gaze.
It was unknown what the Divine Emperor of Death would do to her if she offered her life on a silver plate. For all they knew, she could be controlled like he controlled a few other Heaven’s Warriors who were Venerable Elders of the Lower Realms.
"I was about to get to that. Someone needs to take accountability, after all." Davis nodded with approval, "I prefer taking Venerable Knight Damien’s life since you are easier to talk to, but if you are volunteering, then I don’t mind."
"No, use my life instead. I’ll commit suicide if this negotiation is successful."
Venerable Knight Damien growled with his fists clenched. He looked at the Divine Emperor of Death with anger, but evidently, he understood his position and decided to follow Venerable Knight Lussandra’s decision.
Venerable Knight Lussandra frowned, but before she could say anything, Davis continued.
"That’s cool. As I said, my first condition is for the Heaven’s Warriors to publicly declare the Whispering Wildlands Lower Realm and Verdant Vale Lower Realm is my territory and is off limits to the Heaven’s Warriors of the Divine Sentinel Order, which is what you claimed you could do."
"Doesn’t that depend on Venerable Knight Foredawn?" Venerable Knight Damien interjected.
Davis frowned on being disturbed a second time, but he kept calm and smiled.
"I’m currently using my powers to impose judgment on you all for your sins, but I don’t sense Venerable Knight Foredawn anymore, so he might’ve been burned to death by Calypsea already."
"…!"
"Or he is simply out of my range." Davis chuckled at their expressions and sank more.
He continued, "My second condition is to give us entry into the secret realm in the Eternal Twilight Lower Realm and immunity. My third condition is to not interfere when I kill the Ghostly Crow Realm Master. My fourth condition is to give me a year’s worth of immunity after I reach the Upper Realm for the first time. I made these conditions as reasonable as possible. If you can accept all these conditions, then nod. Otherwise, state your reasons. If you deny me for a stupid reason, then don’t blame me for being ruthless."
Davis barely clenched his fist, causing tremors to echo in numerous souls.
They were trying all they could do to dissolve this strange grasp, but they couldn’t do anything.
On the other hand, the two Venerable Knights chose not to do anything in order to not anger him. By this point, they firmly locked onto the strange karmic attack and were capable of dissolving it. They hadn’t lived so many years for nothing. Their comprehension of Karma Laws was higher, after all. They were Primarchs!
But such high entities were now forced to dance to the Divine Emperor of Death’s tunes. It would be a lie if they said their ego wasn’t hurt. However, they were pragmatic enough to recognize that the ruler of the Lower Realms was someone else.
Venerable Knight Lussandra held her breath. Finally, she breathed and opened her mouth.
"As long as your conditions only involve the Divine Sentinel Order, I agree. Our forces will withdraw from the two realms you stated."
"Good."
Davis nodded.
Then he paused, honestly not having expected his conditions to be accepted. He was asking for a year’s worth of immunity upon entering the Upper Realms. Was she not scared of him, considering that he had reached this level in a mere year and a half?
’I see… they think the black-white stone isn’t enough to compete with Exalts and Primarchs. Fair enough…’
Davis narrowed his eyes.
Ultimately, they thought that he still wasn’t a threat to their main bodies. They feared his potential but thought a single year wasn’t going to make a difference.
On the other hand, Davis didn’t think that if he had said ten years, it would’ve been accepted. That is why he said that his demands were reasonable.
However, he was glad to stop just the Divine Sentinel Order. They were the strongest Heaven’s Warriors Organization by far, their roots in the Greater Realm, unlike the other organizations where their influence was mostly in the Upper Realms, from what he heard.
Out of the nine Venerable Knights, six of them were from the Divine Sentinel Order.
Venerable Knight Damien was from the Sacred Crusade League, but even he chose to follow Venerable Knight Lussandra, who was from the Divine Sentinel Order. Of course, it was mostly due to the Celestial Transcendent, but Venerable Knight Lussandra also needed to be of sound mind and have powerful achievements in her name in order to convince Venerable Knight Damien.
Otherwise, he couldn’t see him following her.
"Venerable Knight Damien, it’s time for you to commit suicide."
Davis’s lips curled as he cast his gaze on him.
Naturally, Venerable Knight Damien looked deeply pissed, "Finish the agreement first."
Davis chuckled.
He returned his gaze to Venerable Knight Lussandra, who was charting a True Soul Contract of unknown nature. However, neither of them was worried since it wouldn’t affect them at all.
One was a Primarch, and the other was a perpetual soul.
This True Soul Contract could be said to be practically useless when it comes to dealing with consequences. However, it served as a reminder of the agreement the Divine Sentinel Order and the Divine Emperor of Death made.
After Venerable Knight Lussandra finished the True Soul Contract, she signed it with her soul essence and sent it to Davis.
Davis went through it thrice before signing it with his soul essence.
"Hmph!" Venerable Knight Damien harrumphed, "You better stay true to your words and stop hunting the Heaven’s Warriors in these two realms."
"Unless attacked, of course." Davis nodded, "I am rarely ever the aggressor. If you look at your history-"
"Enough."
Venerable Knight Damien waved his hand and made a few hand signs, seemingly starting the process of self-destructing.
"Wait a minute…"
But suddenly, Davis stopped him.
"What?"
"Give me your spatial ring and life ring."
"You-!"
Venerable Knight Damien flinched and nearly spat blood from the backlash of losing control over his energy.
