…Well, a monster this size would usually be scary, right? Now that I think about it, I would have cried and run away if it had been me in the past.
Ah, anyway, this monster certainly seemed just right for me.
It’s by no means weak, or rather, it’s probably quite strong, but Enne and I could defeat it without any problems now.
“Uh, it’s been a while since I’ve had a real battle, so let’s warm up!”
“…Enne will also remove the rust from her blade. With blood.” (Enne)
Enne seemed full of motivation and said some pretty scary things.
“Oh, yeah, you’re really motivated, Enne. Were you actually looking forward to today?” (Yuki)
“…Of course. A proper hunt with my master after a long time. This is Enne’s true desire, and the meaning of my life.” (Enne)
“…I see. Okay, then let’s slash away as much as we can today!” (Yuki)
“…Hm!” (Enne)And then, a monster slash began.
???
–We probably continued hunting for three hours.
We ran around the forest, slashing away anyone who looked good.
We left the task of converting the carcasses into DP and storing some of them as meat to Rir this time, and just kept fighting.
At times like these, we were glad we had given Rir the authority.
Rir, who walked my territory every day and knew my dungeon inside and out, was probably the best pet for a dungeon manager. Lately, he’d been acting more like a final boss than me.
But maybe it’s because I could rely on Rir that much… My other four pets, Orochi, Yata, Byaku, and Seimi, were, like, pretty careless.
Of course, I could rely on them in emergencies, and I had no complaints about their strength. As one could see today, they’d gotten a lot stronger.
But in everyday life, I could see a glimpse of their mindset of “Well, Rir will solve it,” even if something happened, and since Rir could actually sort it out, I could see through their mindset of “It’s okay for us to be low-level.”
I wish they would be more conscious of being mid-bosses, but… even I rely on Rir a lot, so I couldn’t say too much about them.
And because of my carelessness, it was Rir who ended up troubled by the monster army that he had to manage under his command.
Also, there was the wolf I brought back from the Rogard Empire.
It seemed that he was acting as liaison or coordinator between my pet army and the others. He’d been working hard every day.
He was the second generation hardworking wolf. The first generation of hardworking Wolf was still active.
So, after a long time of hunting monsters and spending time with my pets, I realized that the sun was already starting to set.
However, even with all this movement, my body was still full of energy, and I was not tired at all. If I continued fighting for the same amount of time from here, I might just feel a little tired.
“Okay… is this enough practice for a sharpness test?” (Yuki)
“Hmm… it was very… very fun.” (Enne)
“Haha, I see. That’s good.” (Yuki)
Enne looked very satisfied.
It may seem a bit strange to say that she was satisfied after slicing living creatures, but Enne was a sword, so it couldn’t be helped.
Perhaps the “rust on the sword” that Enne spoke of had worn off, and it was certainly easier to cut at the end than at the beginning, and she was able to cut down tough enemies with one slash.
The cut was also impressive, and Enne’s fine-tuning of her combat skills must have worked well.
“Good work, Setsu. You followed me to the end.” (Yuki)
“Kuu…” (Setsu)
Setsu seemed exhausted after accompanying us through the forest all day.
But she still managed to get through the forest with us to the end, so that was impressive.
“Come over to my place today and eat lots of good meat. Luckily, Rir has secured the delicious looking meat for us.” (Yuki)
“Kuuu!” (Setsu)
As I said this while stroking her appreciatively, Setsu’s eyes immediately lit up and she started wagging her tail.
“Kuu” (Setsu)
“Haha, don’t worry about it, Rir. Setsu worked hard today.” (Yuki)
“…Hm. Setsu really did work hard. I need to give her a reward.” (Enne)
“Kuu, kuu, kuu!” (Rir)
“Of course. That’s right, Rir. Bring your wife over to my place today. Let’s have dinner together. –Orochi, Yata, Byaku, Seimi, thanks to you guys!” (Yuki)
And so we went home satisfied.
To be honest, I also enjoyed our first proper hunt in a while, but I guess I could say that I had completely immersed myself in this world now more than I had expected.
