Alex put away the Alchemy God’s book and returned his attention to the Book of Boundless Healing. He had read through it already, but there was more to this book than just the knowledge it contained.Every single one of the Alchemy God’s books was an artifact from what Alex had heard, and while this one was not as great an artifact as the Book of Endless Recipes, it was still an artifact nonetheless.
As a result, Alex searched for any hints there might be as to what the book did exactly. He tried flipping through the pages again, hoping to find something he had missed the first time, but as far as he could tell, nothing was written that said what the book did.
’Surely it’s not really just a plain book,’ he thought. ’That would be a little disappointing.’
Since there was nothing in plain sight, Alex tried scanning through it in hopes of finding something that was hidden. But that didn’t work either.
He put the book down for a moment, thinking about what he was missing. Giving it some time, the answer came to him suddenly.
"I need to refine it."
That could only be what he could do in this situation. So, Alex poured out some blood onto the book as he began binding it.
The fastest way to bind an artifact was by using one’s blood essence. However, at his current stage of cultivation, blood essence took so much time to regenerate that it just wasn’t worth it.
Furthermore, his own blood was of such quality that it could be comparable to the blood essence of a weak Immortal cultivator in the first place. So, his regular blood would be enough.
It would take some time, perhaps a few weeks of constant refining, to fully bind the book, but Alex was okay with that. What else did he have to do anyway?
He spent the next few days refining the book in between reading it again. This time, he read to learn more than to unlock his memories. He wanted to perfectly know all the information without having to go through it in his mind.
Alex had only gotten through a bit of it when he heard a knock on the door. Curious, he put away the book and left his bed to go to the door. He hadn’t had anyone visit him since he settled in this room, so he wondered if Pearl and Whisker had returned.
But he could feel both of the bonds at a distance away. So, the one at the door was someone else.
When he opened the door, he was surprised to find Bladedance standing outside, her body clad in a rather unique white and gold robe that nearly made her look like she was part of the White Tiger’s group.
"Master! What are you wearing?" he asked.
Bladedance looked down. "Oh, the White Tigers gave me some clothes after I told them of my situation," she quickly said. "Are you cultivating?"
"No," Alex said. "Wait, you met the White Tigers? Do you mean the patriarch?"
Bladedance nodded.
"So... what did he say?" Alex asked. "Can you stay for a while longer?"
