Shumi sat at the back of a large hall, watching the tournament with a few thousand other people. A few people had tried to approach her during this time, but with Fairy Xin right next to her, no one dared to.
She had left the place where the tournament was being held a while ago and had arrived at the Pillheaven Continent. Here, she now waited for the day when the inter-realm teleportation formation would activate again.
She had heard it would take just a day to prepare it, and it had been some time since then. She would be leaving very soon.
Shumi watched the competition with some intrigue, given her curiosity regarding Alex, a man who had saved her when she was young. He was a man from a world where she had lived in the past.
She wondered what else he knew about her.
She wanted to know what it was that she had felt with him around—the feeling of being dragged toward him, like metal to a magnet. Her curiosity surrounding him as a subject was very high.
And now that she knew she was leaving this world, she could only wonder when she would meet him again.
Shumi noticed some movement next to her and turned to see Fairy Xin's legs shaking while she sat there.
"Is something wrong?" Shumi asked with worry. "You look nervous."
"Hmm? Oh." The shaking stopped. "It's nothing, don't worry about it."
Shumi didn't believe her. "Does it have anything to do with why we had to leave the stadium in a hurry?" she asked.
Fairy Xin grimaced a little but said nothing.
Shumi frowned. "I have always trusted you to do the right thing for me, and you have, which is why I do everything you tell me to do. But some of the things that have been happening for the past few days have been strange, Sister Xin. At some point, you're going to have to explain something. You can't expect me to follow you around after making decisions that no sane person would. You have to explain yourself."
Fairy Xin didn't react for a moment, but then she nodded her head. "I understand," she said. "I will see what explanations I can give you once we go to the next world. For now, trust me."
Shumi nodded and turned back to watch the tournament.
Fairy Xin turned back as well and watched Alex on the stage, making some random pills. The Alchemy God's commentary on everything that was being done by the contestants told her that he was making random pills that didn't have much to do with the competition itself.
She wondered what exactly it was that he was doing in that case.
And what it had to do with whatever was going to happen very soon.
'What major event will take place here?' she thought. 'And what does that have to do with him?'
It was clear from the start, despite the man having not spoken about him, that the event would involve the young man on the projected image at some point in the future.
As for what that event was, Fairy Xin now desperately wanted to be present for it as well. However, she couldn't leave Shumi alone. Shumi needed to leave this world for that event, and she was not going to go anywhere without her.
Fairy Xin had a responsibility toward Shumi to watch over her until she was strong enough to look after herself.
A little over a day remained for the final competition when everyone who was watching the tournament was notified that the teleportation formation was ready. It was time for them to leave.
Just a day more, and she would find out who the winner was, but since time was against her at this moment, she had to leave.
Shumi got up and turned toward Fairy Xin. "We failed, didn't we?" she asked.
