Long Ai Ning looked at Nan Si calmly.
Nan Si didn't dawdle and continued his words, "I'm the third child and I have two older brothers. The family where I was born was a poor family and it's impossible to eat enough with only what they earned."
Despite that, his parents still have a few more children after him.
To be honest, Nan Si couldn't understand their thoughts in the slightest bit. Because she could see that the family was struggling and they couldn't even take care of the children.
"Every single day is filled with hunger and cold. There's not enough food to feed everyone in the family, so they started to sell the children. From the daughters and then sons. I was included and when I left, there are only my two older brother left in the family," Nan Si said calmly.
He was still quite young at that time, but he understood from his parent's action that they have no capabilities to feed for him anymore.
They had sold his younger siblings but the increasing tax made it difficult for their lives.
So they used the last resort to sell Nan Si too.
Long Ai Ning listened to Nan Si's words and moved closer to Nan Si, holding his hand tightly and pursed her lips. She didn't know what to say and could only comfort him in this way.
Even if he might not need to be comforted, she still wanted to do it.
"I don't know where my other siblings end up in because none of us keep in contact with each other," Nan Si continued.
They were still young and his youngest sister was sold when she was just a baby. It was simply impossible for these children to know where they were going to end up and possibly die midway.
To be honest, Nan Si could not understand the intention of his parents of producing children only for the sake of selling them.
Only his eldest brother could not be sold because he would be the one to inherit his parents' property and took care of them in their old age. Then again, Nan Si was not that close to his siblings nor parents.
"I think I'm around 6 to 7 years old when I was sold." Nan Si was not sure of the time because he was still young. But he remembered when his parents took him to a place and then left him there.
Having seen the experience of his younger siblings, Nan Si could easily guess what his parents wanted to do. He was not surprised and had no intention of fighting back.
Because even if he came back, no one would welcome him.
The live in the village was really hard and there were many people dying every single day. The war has not stopped and their village was involved in conflicts from time to time. Some villages nearby has even been burned down because of the war and bandits.
It was truly a miserable time.
Nan Si had no opinion of his father sending him away and obediently followed the people who came to pick him up. Because only if he followed them would he had the chance to survive.
