"This entire place, I think that you humans call it Death Valley, this place is a special habitat that was created for me by my lord." The god’s messenger explained once they saw the look on my face.
But this really wasn’t an explanation even though they were trying to explain this to me.
It really felt like these words didn’t really make any sense at all.
After a pause, the god’s messenger said, "I’m sure that you know what relics are. This entire place is nothing more than a relic as well."
My expression slowly changed after hearing this, but I was still confused when I heard this.
In the end, the god’s messenger just took the time to explain everything.
It turned out that this entire Death Valley, all of the different biomes that were in this place were actually made on purpose. This entire place was created as a home for the god’s messenger and the biomes were created so that they could incubate different insects.
"Does that mean that from the moment that we stepped into this place, you already knew that we were coming?" I couldn’t help asking at the end of this explanation.
The god’s messenger didn’t say anything and even though I couldn’t see their expression, it wasn’t hard to guess what they were trying to say from the way that they looked at me.
It wasn’t hard to imagine just how many bugs were hiding in this entire Death Valley with this explanation that was given...
But it wasn’t as if I wanted to think about how many bugs were surrounding me at this moment.
So that was why I brought the topic back by asking, "Then where do I need to go to take ownership of this relic?"
"It’s very simple, just go down to the core of this place and you’ll find the relic. Since you’re the Holy Son, it should be easy for you to take the relic from there." The god’s messenger said in a voice filled with confidence.
Though I really couldn’t feel as confident as this god’s messenger did.
"Will you be taking us?"
"Unfortunately, I can’t move right now since I’m still in my incubation period. But I will send some of my elite guards with you to bring you down there." Right after the god’s messenger said this, a few of the guards that had been standing on the side came forward.
These bugs were bigger than the rest of the bugs that we’ve seen, they were already big enough to reach my knees.
After stepping forward, they immediately fell forward as if they were bowing down to me.
I couldn’t stop the strange feeling from filling me when I saw bugs bowing to me like this, but I suppressed that feeling in the end as I turned back to look at the god’s messenger.
There was a part of me that couldn’t help feeling wary.
Even though this god’s messenger was covered in divine energy which helped prove their identity, there was a part of me that still couldn’t help feeling skeptical. After all, I had been thinking that this place was nothing more than a trap for me.
It really felt like whatever the real god’s messenger was had been taken care of by these bugs and had been replaced by this queen bug.
With the way that they refused to come with us, it really felt like they were planning to lead us into a trap to deal with us.
Still, there wasn’t anything that proved that this was a trap and it wasn’t as if they were openly hostile towards us. In fact, it seemed like they were filled with respect towards us, or at least towards me.
So until they showed hostility, it didn’t seem like it was a good idea to push them.
That was why I said, "Alright, I’ll go and get it."
The god’s messenger gave a nod before laying back on the bed that they had been laying on the entire time.
Since they were the queen of this bug colony, they were well taken care of by their subjects. This place had been carefully decorated in a way that would maximize their comfort.
At the same time, I could see that there was water and food that was gathered all around us. It seemed like this god’s messenger really cared about their own comfort.
After I said this, the elite guards that had been kneeling in front of me got up without a word. It seemed like they had received an order without anyone saying anything and they were moving to execute it.
The god’s messenger did say that they had some strange powers and I had already guessed that it was related to the bugs. It seemed like there was this connection between it and all of the bugs that were in this colony.
As I was about to follow the elite guards, they suddenly stopped moving as if they received some other kind of order.
I couldn’t help turning back to look at the god’s messenger with a curious and confused look.
"I forgot to mention something." They said all of a sudden when they saw me turn around like this.
I was prepared for something special from the god’s messenger, but that never came. Instead, what I heard was something that could have been said at another time.
The god’s messenger did have to act like this to say something like this...
"I forgot to mention that my name is Queenie."
Right after the god’s messenger...after Queenie said this, it seemed like it had lost interest in this and laid back once more to be fed by their elite guards.
The elite guards in front of me that had stopped started to move once more.
A wry look appeared on my face seeing this, but I held myself back as I followed the elite guards.
This Queenie, I had already suspected it, but this proved it.
They clearly only cared about themselves, but that was only natural since it was the only queen of all these bugs.
