I looked at the Merman King with a look that was questioning him about this, but the Merman King and the royal guards all had confused looks on their faces.

They looked at all of the different creatures that came out around us, but it didn’t seem like they recognized any of these creatures.

It was clear that this was their first time seeing any of these races.

I had never seen these races before and they were all living in this taboo zone that was sealed off with those whirlpools.

In the history books of the Merman Empire, this place had always been considered a taboo place because of the whirlpools that surrounded it.

I had thought that it was because it was dangerous, same as the others from the Merman Empire. But after hearing what Aestum said, it really seemed like there was another explanation for this.

It seemed like there was some kind of deeper explanation that involved Aestum and Aquaron.

"We’re not here to harm anyone." The Merman King said in a calm voice in the end before lowering his trident and waving at the royal guards to do the same with their weapons.

The royal guards hesitated for a second seeing this, but they still followed the Merman King’s orders in the end.

Even though they lowered their weapons, it didn’t seem like the different races were about to drop their guards.

Though it wasn’t as if those different races had weapons in the first place.

If one didn’t know what was happening, they would have thought that the Merman King and the royal guards were the aggressors in this situation.

But since the Merman King and the royal guards made the first move, it didn’t seem like they were about to attack.

That was until someone suddenly threw a chunk of coral at the Merman King.

"Get out of here followers of the tyrant! We don’t want you here!"

The one that threw this chunk of coral was a child, so it wasn’t as if it would even hurt the Merman King if it hit him. But the royal guards had their duty and it wasn’t as if they could just ignore this.

So the moment that this chunk of coral was thrown, they all drew their weapons once more and surrounded the Merman King to protect him.

When the residents of this place saw that, they thought that the mermaids were about to attack them. That was why there were some that picked up coral chunks as well as if they were going to throw them.

There were also a few of them that pulled weapons out from inside of their houses.

It seemed that while most of them were incapable of fighting, there were some among them that were still able to fight.

With both sides acting like this, it didn’t take long before tensions rose between the two sides.

While neither side seemed like they were willing to start the fight, it seemed like it was only a matter of time before this powder keg exploded. It really seemed like there was nothing that would be able to stop it.

"Are you really just going to keep watching?" I asked Aestum in the end.

While I didn’t know what was happening, I knew that we wouldn’t be able to get anywhere as long as this kept going.

The only one that seemed capable of stopping this at this point was Aestum.

Aestum didn’t say anything at first as they watched all of this silently, but then they said with a sigh, "Enough of that. They aren’t here to harm you."

The residents of this place seemed to be relieved when they heard this, but there were more of them that returned back to their own residences. It seemed like they didn’t want any part of what was going on here.

When things had calmed down, the Merman King was the one that came forward to ask, "What is the meaning of this? Are you just trying to cause trouble for us?"

"Cause trouble for you?" Aestum almost said this was as if it was a joke before saying, "Why would I want to do that? All I wanted to do was show you the history that was swept under the rug."

Once again, the Merman King and the royal guards looked confused as they had no idea how this was related to what Aestum was talking about.

"Just be straight with them." I suddenly said even though I was confused as well.

I knew that there was malice behind what Aestum was doing.

It was clear that Aestum held a grudge against Aquaron and when there was a group that was representing Aquaron here, it seemed like Aestum was messing with them on purpose.

It was clear that Aestum was getting some kind of petty revenge on the Merman King’s group since they weren’t able to do anything to Aquaron.

Though getting this kind of revenge really was a petty thing to do.

So in the end, I put a stop to it since I also wanted to know what the reason was.

It seemed that Aestum still respected me enough to put this aside temporarily.

With a sigh, Aestum said, "You’re wondering why they have this kind of grudge against you, it’s all because they were the ones that were cast away."

"Cast away?" Neither the Merman King nor I could understand what Aestum meant by that.

"That’s right, they were cast away by Aquaron in favour of that tyrant’s favoured creation. I think you should be very clear what that creation is, right?"

When everyone here was acting this way towards the Merman King’s group, it couldn’t be more obvious.

It was just that we had never heard of this before.

Then again, it wasn’t as if we had ever heard or seen the races that lived here before.

"How...how could this be?" The Merman King was genuinely shocked when he heard this.

It was the same for the royal guards around him.

This was the history of the Merman Empire that they really had never heard before.
