The royal guards did stop moving, but they didn’t lower their weapons in the end after I said this.

It really looked like they were ready to attack as soon as they saw an opportunity.

I knew that it was impossible for me to convince them with just these few words.

So that was why I said, "Do you have any part of you that we can talk to?"

Though I asked this, I wasn’t really confident that the tentacles would be able to hear me. After all, these were tentacles which meant that they were arms, it wasn’t as if arms would be used to hear.

But then again, I don’t think that creatures like this had ears to begin with...

If I remember correctly, they had structures that would sense the change in water pressure and that was the equivalent of an ear for creatures like this.

So I was thinking about how to send waves in the direction that the whirlpools had been in to communicate with the head of this thing.

Or at least that was what I had been planning until the tentacles started to move again.

The royal guards looked like they wanted to move forward, but they stopped since the Merman King raised his hand to stop them.

When it was done moving, I couldn’t help being caught off guard by what I saw.

But then again, I wasn’t the only one that was caught off guard by this.

The others that were with me were also caught off guard by the shape that the tentacles took.

"Wait a moment."

This was written in the common language so all of us could understand what it was saying.

It seemed that there was no need for me to do anything, the owner of these tentacles had already heard everything that I said. Though I really couldn’t help wondering how the owner of these tentacles had even heard all of this.

It didn’t take long before something came from where the whirlpool had been previously.

This thing wasn’t as big as the tentacles that had come out of the ground, but it wasn’t that small either.

It was certainly much bigger than any of us still.

This thing was as one expected, it was a giant squid.

Though the better name for this thing was actually kraken.

It was a legendary beast, so it was a kraken.

Once it appeared, the first thing that it did was come over to me.

It was clear that it recognized that I was the one that had the Mark of God.

Though then again, it wasn’t strange that it would be able to recognize that since the Mark of God on my hand was still glowing.

After appearing, the first thing that the kraken did was...

"Greetings to the Holy Son."

It seemed like it had quite the respectable personality with how it greeted me.

Or that would have been the impression that I had of it if not for what it said after this.

"Why do I smell a strange smell?"

Everyone was confused when they heard this, but that only lasted a moment. Once the kraken found what it was looking for, everyone suddenly raised their guards once more.

After all, it seemed like the kraken had something against the Merman King.

"That trident, it has the smell of that tyrant Aquaron! You’re one of Aquaron’s dogs!" The kraken said in a provoking tone.

It wasn’t just the royal guards that raised their guard when they heard this, it was also the Merman King that couldn’t help gripping his trident.

The Merman Empire was a place where Aquaron was worshipped and even the king was a proper follower of Aquaron. So when Aquaron was insulted in front of them like this, it was only natural that they would react like this.

I moved myself in between everyone again before asking the kraken, "Why are you saying this?"

"Holy Son, don’t be fooled..." The kraken’s voice soon trailed off as it looked at me.

It seemed like the kraken noticed that there was something off about me.

"Holy Son, you mustn’t fall for that tyrant Aquaron’s tricks! You shouldn’t let him spread his corruption to you!"

Its words were still respectful, but it seemed like it really couldn’t drop the hostility that it had towards Aquaron.

It was strange that one of the god’s messengers would have this kind of hostility, but this wasn’t the time to think about that. After all, it really seemed like a fight was about to break out between the mermaids and the kraken.

"Alright, enough of that."

I wasn’t the one that said this in the end.

It was a voice that seemed to come from behind the kraken.

When I looked closer, I found that there was this small ball of blue light that had floated over.

When this blue light appeared, the kraken seemed like it was afraid of it.

But then the kraken said, "What are you doing here, your eminence?"

The blue ball of light ignored the kraken before floating over to where I was and said, "I’ve been waiting for you."

I was surprised to hear this, but that wasn’t even the most surprising thing.

The most surprising thing was the fact that I could feel divine energy from this blue ball of light.

That meant that this thing was either related to a god or...

"Come, there’s a lot we have to talk about." The blue ball of light seemed to turn around and started floating in the opposite direction.

The Merman King and the royal guards were confused about all of this and didn’t seem to know what to do at first.

So I said with a sigh, "Come on, let’s go and see what they want."

Then after a pause, I added, "They won’t harm us."

The Merman King and the royal guards looked at the kraken once more, but the kraken was already following that blue ball of light.

So in the end, they followed me after that blue ball of light.
