Well, that was something to think about tomorrow when I met with someone special.
For now, it was about learning more about the power that Zeldir possessed.
"Well Zeldir, let’s go over the different things that you can do. We’ll see what kind of powers you possess to see how you can help us in our fight against the forces of Destruction."
It was clear that this seemed like a bother for Zeldir, but he still nodded in agreement in the end.
I didn’t care what he felt about this since this was important for what was about to come.
But during this time, I noticed that there was something off about the Fenrir.
She just didn’t seem happy at all.
It wasn’t that she was envious because I was spending time with Zeldir, it seemed like there was something about all of this that she didn’t like.
In the end, I was able to figure out that it was because of my addressing Zeldir by name.
I didn’t really understand why doing something like this would provoke this kind of reaction from the Fenrir, but it seemed that she twitched each time that she heard me call Zeldir by name.
In the end, Zeldir seemed like he couldn’t take it anymore as he said, "Just tell him your name already if you want him to call you by that."
I was surprised to hear this.
I had always thought that the Fenrir didn’t have a name.
It wasn’t as if a legendary beast should automatically have a name, it could be addressed by its species name. Or at least that was what I thought because of the knowledge from my past life.
But now that Zeldir had pointed it out, it only seemed natural that...
"Well, she should have her own name...She is a living being with intelligence, so it’s not as if she can’t come up with her own name."
I was just curious why the Fenrir had never told me her name before.
The Fenrir glared at Zeldir when he said this, but Zeldir didn’t bother looking at the Fenrir as he went back to showing me the things that he could do.
Though I did raise a hand to stop Zeldir in the end before turning to look at the Fenrir with a questioning look.
The Fenrir awkwardly looked away when she saw me looking at her like this, but it wasn’t as if I was going to stop just because she avoided looking at me.
With this awkward silence lingering in the air, she eventually said, "I wanted you to give me a name and formally enter a contract with me."
I was caught off guard hearing this.
I couldn’t help silently looking at the Fenrir with a strange look.
The Fenrir didn’t say anything as she looked right at me.
In the end, it was Zeldir that broke the silence by saying, "You can’t have done that anyway since you’re already a messenger of the gods. That holds precedence over any other contracts that you could try to make, so it’s not as if you would have been able to form a contract with him."
The Fenrir narrowed her eyes to glare at him once more when he said this, but he didn’t seem to care at all.
He was simply telling it as it was.
I couldn’t help shaking my head before saying with a sigh, "Regardless of this, you should at least tell me your name. At least that way we can get closer to one another."
"It doesn’t matter since it would have been my old name." The Fenrir tried to brush it off, but I didn’t buy it at all as I glared at her.
Eventually, Zeldir said, "Lupus, stop playing around already."
"You!" The Fenrir...Lupus said before suddenly summoning a blade of wind to attack Zeldir.
All that he did was summon a wall of black flames that absorbed that blade of wind and became even stronger.
"Alright, that’s enough of that." I said after this exchange between the two of them.
When they heard this, the two of them stopped as if they were children that had been caught.
I looked at Lupus and said, "I hope that in the future, you will trust me enough to tell me things like this."
She looked like she had something else to say, but I had already turned around to look at Zeldir to say, "You shouldn’t say these things on behalf of others."
Zeldir accepted this much easier as he just gave a simple nod in response.
Though in the first place, it wasn’t as if I was angry with him since he was quite helpful this time. He had told me the things that I needed to know while not caring about how Lupus would feel.
While it was a bit wrong to do something like this, it was still better than to have her keep lying about this.
In the end, there was nothing else that was said since there was nothing else that could be said.
"Help me keep her safe." I said to Zeldir before taking Dorothy to her room.
Though Zeldir didn’t seem like he was for protecting Dorothy, that didn’t mean that he didn’t follow my orders.
Dorothy on the other hand seemed like she was interested to get to know this new friend of hers.
After tucking Dorothy in, I just took one look at Lupus before heading to my room as well.
I didn’t let her follow me into my room.
After all, if there was no punishment at all this time...
...
When morning came, I quickly took care of everything and headed out.
When we came down, I bumped into the hunchback who greeted me.
"I never had the chance to catch your name."
"It’s Igor."
"I’m Zwein."
I said this in a simple manner, but there was a part of me that couldn’t help finding it funny that his name was Igor.
After all, that was quite the famous name for hunchbacks in my past life.
