Once I had finished picking out the divine relics, I had prepared to head back to the main chapel.
But then I suddenly remembered something that I had to ask the gods.
Though it was something that I couldn't help hesitating with since it was something that felt inappropriate to ask.
Still, I had to ask it in the end.
"Did you know about the outposts that the forces of Destruction built?"
The gods didn't say anything after I asked them this which made them seem a bit suspicious, but I didn't say anything as I waited to see what Solista would have to say.
With a sudden sigh, she said, "You really ask some hard questions, don't you?"
I couldn't help knitting my brows when I heard this, but I still didn't jump to any conclusions as I waited to hear what she had to say.
But what she had to say wasn't what I expected.
It was for a completely different reason that it was hard for her to answer.
"It's embarrassing to admit that we didn't know about this since we're gods, but we really didn't know anything about this before you discovered them." Solista said with another sigh.
It was hard for me to react to this, but eventually I came back to my senses and slowly asked, "You didn't know anything about this?"
"That's right, we really didn't know. You don't have to keep making us admit this." Solista said in a bitter voice.
But I really couldn't care about that right now.
After all, it was a strange thing for the all knowing gods to admit that they really didn't know about this.
It was as if Solista could guess what I was thinking, but it really wasn't that hard with the expression on my face. So she said, "It's very simple, it's because it's the power of another god."
My expression slowly changed as Solista continued to explain.
"Sometimes you forget about this fact, but the God of Destruction isn't a normal god. There's a reason why the God of Destruction is so important and powerful, it's because the God of Destruction is the opposite of the God of Creation. I'm sure you know just how powerful the God of Creation is, right?"
I slowly nodded in response to this.
Seeing this, Solista continued by saying, "The God of Destruction's powers are stronger than ours and these outposts are created with the God of Destruction's powers. So even if we wanted to find these places, it would be hard since it would block our divine senses."
Though what she was saying made sense, it still felt strange that these gods that had provided all the answers and had withheld answers didn't know about this. It was as if they felt mortal for the first time…
"We might be gods, but we still have our limits. There's only so much that we can do." Solista said with another sigh.
I couldn't help feeling awkward when she reacted like this.
After all, it felt like I was being the bad guy in this situation.
Though it sounded strange, it felt like I was bullying a god in this situation.
So in the end, I just said, "Alright, I'm sorry about that. I didn't mean to blame you."
Solista gave a simple nod as she said, "I know what you're thinking and it's fine to think this, but I hope that you will remember that we are on your side."
This time, it was my turn to give a sigh as I said, "I know, but more and more things have been happening, so it's not as if I can afford not to be cautious."
Solista gave a nod without saying anything.
I changed the topic by asking, "Is there anything else that you can tell us?"
Solista just shook her head as she said, "Nothing at all."
I couldn't help raising a brow to look at her when she said this, so Solista complained, "Like I said before, it's the power of the God of Destruction that we're facing. It's not as if we're able to see through the powers of the God of Destruction that easily."
It seemed like there was an exasperated tone that was in Solista's voice when she said this.
It seemed that even gods could get fed up like this.
But then again, the God of Destruction breaking free could be considered a big problem for the gods.
Still, I had to say, "Then there's nothing that you can give to help us?"
"Nothing? We're giving your relics and our mark, is that nothing at all?" Solista said in a slightly bitter voice that made a strange look appear on my face.
After all, the way that she said this was almost as if she was a woman that had been neglected.
It really was strange for me to hear her say something like this…
With a twitch of my lips, I said, "Forget it then."
Solista just gave a snort, but it didn't really seem like she was that offended.
It almost seemed like she was just messing with me at this point.
So I didn't bother playing along with her.
"We'll try to find something, but I can only say that you shouldn't get your hopes up. There's so much that we can do against the God of Destruction."
When she was being honest, I gave a simple nod in response.
"We'll do our best. I hope that you will be able to continue supporting us." I said in a sincere voice in the end.
"We're the gods of this world, it's only natural that we would protect you all from the God of Destruction."
Solista looked like she wanted to say something else, but it also seemed like there was something that was restraining her in the end that stopped her from speaking.
I couldn't help slightly knitting my brows seeing this, but it wasn't as if I could say anything to her.
So I went back with our new weapons.
