"Are you sure that there’s nothing that you want? It’s not as if you’re an outsider and we never would have made it this far if it wasn’t for you helping guide us."
The Dwarven King finally couldn’t take it anymore and asked me this all of a sudden.
"Well, it’s not just that I feel awkward taking things, it’s just that I haven’t seen anything that I want yet."
When I said this, the Dwarven King narrowed his eyes to look at me as if he doubted these words.
Of course, it was because of what I had shown him that he looked like he doubted these words.
I had acted like I was interested in a few things, but I had held back. Though in reality, those things weren’t really that useful to me and weren’t things that I wanted even if they gave them to me.
I only needed them to think that I wanted it after all.
It wasn’t just the Dwarven King who looked at me like this, the other dwarves also looked at me with similar expressions.
It seemed that my acting had been a bit too good...
All of them were looking at me like this which showed that they really felt like they were wronging me in some way.
A part of this made me feel awkward even though I had been the one that had guided them to feel this way.
So I changed the topic by saying, "How about we go this way? I’m sure that there will be something special there."
The dwarves just looked at me with the same doubtful looks, but they gave sighs that showed they were giving up in the end and nodded in agreement.
While they were following me, I could see that they were looking around for me and even looking at me closely. It was as if they wanted to find something that I would want and force it on me.
After walking for a bit, we finally arrived at the place with the item that I wanted.
But in the eyes of the dwarves, it didn’t seem like there was anything special here.
Or at least anything special that I would want.
There were things that they wanted since this was a room that was filled with different raw ores. It was almost as if this was some kind of storage room for raw ores with how much of it was scattered around.
For a moment, it seemed like they completely forgot about me as they started looking at the different ores.
But once they got over their excitement, they turned back to look at me.
I had been looking at the different ores as well, but these ores weren’t that special to me. After all, if I really wanted them, it would be easy for me to buy them from the dwarves after this.
Instead, I looked at one of the stones that was on a pedestal.
"Don’t you want to take a look at this instead?" The Dwarven King said while holding up a shining ore that showed how valuable it was.
However, I only had eyes for this stone on the pedestal in front of me.
In the end, I took this stone off the pedestal and said, "This is the one that I want."
All of the dwarves looked at me with awkward looks on their faces.
After all, they could all tell that there wasn’t a single thing special about this stone.
It certainly wasn’t special enough that it could make up for everything that had happened.
They continued to look at me with these awkward looks on their faces as if they wanted to say something, but they didn’t say anything in the end. That was because they could tell from the way that I was holding the stone that I wouldn’t back down on this matter.
So instead, they just picked out a few things that they thought were valuable and handed it over to me without a word.
They wouldn’t take it back even though I was telling them that I didn’t want anything else.
What they didn’t know was that there was something special inside of this stone, or else it wouldn’t have been on a pedestal like this. It was all about cracking it open and getting to the thing that was inside of the stone.
Only that thing was valuable.
Other than making it up to me, I knew that there was another reason why the dwarves wanted me to take these things.
It was simply because they wanted to give me a bribe to keep my mouth shut about this place.
The fire spirit dungeon that was opened up had become a place where everyone shared the resources of. That was because they had all discovered and explored it together, so everyone was entitled to a share.
It was different for this place since it was discovered in the Dwarven Kingdom and by the dwarves.
Of course, they didn’t have anything to worry about since I didn’t want anything from this place. Even if I did, it would be easier for me to pay them to get the items since it would be annoying for me to get them myself.
As such, they really didn’t have to worry that I would want a part of this place.
Still, that didn’t stop them from bribing me which just made me feel awkward.
In the end, it seemed that they were only satisfied after filling me up with rare ores.
I looked at them with an awkward smile and said, "There’s no need for all of this."
"We wouldn’t have got anything if it wasn’t for you helping us. Not to mention that you’re family, so you don’t have to worry about this." The Dwarven King said in a firm voice as if he wouldn’t take no for an answer.
Since that was the case, there really wasn’t anything else that I could say.
