From time to time, we would come to a stop and Ifrit would summon the fire spirits that gathered around us.
Each time, he just gave the instructions for them to allow us to pass and not do anything to the humans from now on.
However, there wasn’t actually a need to do this.
Only Ifrit and I knew this secret.
The moment that we entered the dungeon, the fire spirits already knew that the master of the dungeon had returned. The moment that we entered, the fire spirits had already wanted to swarm us to greet Ifrit.
If it wasn’t for the silent order that Ifrit gave, then this secret would have been revealed a long time ago.
With this silent order, the fire spirits already knew not to attack humans and to let them mine this place.
For the fire spirits, it wasn’t as if there was anything that they could do with the byproducts that formed from the fire elemental energy. It wasn’t as if they could use the fire elemental energy in these things for anything.
As such, they didn’t even care if the humans took these things.
The only reason that they attacked was that they considered this their territory and didn’t want humans entering as they wanted.
However, just a single order from Ifrit was enough to change all of this.
Ifrit was the Spirit King of the fire spirits after all.
The rest was all just a show that was put on for the people from the racial alliance.
If I had told them that I could stop the fire spirits with just a single order from Ifrit, then it would seem a bit suspicious. I couldn’t let the people from the racial alliance connect Ifrit to the dungeon or else it would get troublesome.
The ones that were the most troublesome were the ones from the Sorcery Empire that had studied spirits.
They were the ones that seemed most likely to make that connection.
After all, the Azure Sage recognized Ifrit and Undine as Spirit Kings with just a single glance.
I had to at least lay down some misdirection so they wouldn’t figure it out too easily.
That was why I was stopping every so often to have Ifrit give the order to the fire spirits.
Showing them this scene would be more than enough for them to not come up with this association.
While I was having Ifrit subdue the fire spirits, those from the racial alliances were moving around the areas that we stopped in to see if there were any good resources to mine.
They were seizing this chance to find the best resources for their countries.
But of course, they also reported this matter to me.
In the contract that we signed with the countries of the racial alliance, we wouldn’t actually be doing any mining. The only thing that the Kite Kingdom would be doing was suppressing the fire spirits that were present in this fire dungeon.
That alone was more than enough.
The actual mining of the resources in this dungeon would be taken care of by the different countries depending on who discovered what first, that was why they were exploring this dungeon with this kind of enthusiasm.
All of them wanted to secure as much as they could for their countries.
As for the Kite Kingdom, they would receive half of the resources or the profits from sharing the resources just from suppressing the fire spirits.
That was the deference that they showed the Kite Kingdom, or rather it was better to say the deference that they showed me.
After all, it would have been impossible for them to mine these resources if it wasn’t for me taking care of the fire spirits.
But there was something else that I was doing every time that I stopped.
"Hand it over to me." I mouthed to the fire spirits that had gathered in front of me.
From their bodies, they took out items that I had requested them to find for me through Ifrit.
The other reason that I was putting on this show was just so I could smuggle out a few of the best items in this place.
I hadn’t been able to loot this place like I did with Undine’s palace last time since I had been in a rush, but now I was going to take all of the best items with me. These were items that would certainly be useful, so it wasn’t as if I would let anyone else take them from me.
After all, I wouldn’t let anyone use these items against me.
That was also the reason for all of these stops.
In the beginning, they would stop along with me to watch as I had Ifrit deal with the fire spirits.
But after a while, the people from the racial alliance lost interest since it was just the same thing happening again and again. They weren’t interested in watching this same thing happen again and again and they had better things to do, so they just went off to look for resources.
With my back to them, it was easy for a few of these fire spirits to come forward to hand me these items.
So from the third stop, I had been gathering these items from the fire spirits.
Even if they were to excavate this entire place, they wouldn’t be able to find the treasures that they expected to find.
But none of that would be my fault since I was doing my job properly.
From now on, I would even stop coming to this place since there was no need for me to come back here anymore. After all, this place would lose its value once I took all the treasures from this place.
It was just that they wouldn’t know about this.
At the same time, they would even be thanking me with half of the items and profits that they got from this place.
It really was a scam.
