"How is she doing?" I asked as soon as I ran over.
Standing outside the birthing room were Noah and the previous king.
The others were here, but they were standing further away since it was clear that the two of them were the ones that were the most anxious.
As for the reason why Noah and the previous king were anxious, it was all because it was Angela who was giving birth today.
It was only natural that they would be nervous as her brother and her father.
Noah looked at me before turning back to pace back and forth while shaking his head.
As for the previous king, he didn’t even bother looking at me as he kept staring at the door of the birthing room.
I couldn’t help revealing a bitter smile when I saw them like this, but I didn’t barge in either since I knew that I wouldn’t be able to help if I were to go in. Since she was already close to her due date, we had already prepared everything that would be needed.
There were plenty of people who were far more qualified than me who were already in the room, so there was no need for me to go in and make things worse.
But that didn’t mean that I wasn’t nervous.
Rose came over to pull me aside before saying, "She just went into labour not that long ago, so it’ll be a while before she’s finished."
I gave a nod before asking, "How is she?"
A smile appeared on Rose’s face as she said, "She’s perfectly fine. She was filled with energy when she went in, so there won’t be any problems at all."
All of a sudden, Noah and the previous king turned around to look at us after Rose said this.
The previous king came forward to say, "How can you say something like that? What are you going to do if you jinx it?"
"Right? What if something suddenly goes wrong in the middle of it?" Noah asked in a nervous voice.
"Aren’t you the two jinxing it?" I couldn’t help asking when I heard them say this.
The two of them immediately glared at me as if I had betrayed them with this comment.
I knew that they were looking at me like this because I wasn’t as nervous as them about Angela giving birth.
It was just that this wasn’t my first time already, so it wasn’t as if I could be as nervous as I had been the first time. Since I already had experience, I had expectations of how things would go and couldn’t worry about them anymore.
But I did understand how they felt, so I said, "How about we go and take a look at the new baby’s room? I’m sure that she would be happy to know that it’s been set up when she comes out."
The two of them glared at me again, but eventually they nodded in agreement.
We would just be taking up space and worrying even more if we stayed here, so it was better to do something to take their minds off of this.
I looked at the others that were here and asked, "Do you want to come along?"
But they shook their heads and said, "You guys can go ahead."
It wasn’t that they weren’t worried, it was just that they didn’t want to be with Noah and the previous king. In short, they were leaving babysitting duty for the two of them to me...
Since I offered, it wasn’t as if I could go back on it anymore.
So the three of us headed to the room that we had prepared for the baby.
This room was already filled with different things that seemed to clash with each other, which I didn’t understand how they came to be. After all, it wasn’t as if the maids would allow this kind of mess to remain in this room.
Only it didn’t take long for me to figure out why this was the case.
"I already told you, we need to prepare books early so they can start learning from a young age."
"What child should be forced to learn from a young age? It’s clear that they should be allowed to play with toys."
"You’re wrong about that mobile, this one’s clearly better."
"Look at all the sharp edges, can’t you use your head for even a moment?"
I just watched with a bitter smile as the two of them started to argue about the things that were in the room.
This was the reason why the maids hadn’t cleaned any of this up.
It was all because they simply couldn’t clean it up because it was done by someone that was much higher status than them.
So in the end, I just had to watch as the two of them argued about how this room should be decorated.
That was until there was a loud cry that suddenly stopped them both.
"Wa!"
It was the sound of a baby crying...but why was it so loud?
Could it be that something had happened?
The moment that we came back to our senses, none of us wasted a single moment as we ran in the direction of the birthing room.
But when we came out, we found that there was something strange about the sky outside.
Looking out the window in the hall, we saw that there was this golden glow that had filled the sky. It was hard to tell where this golden glow came from, but it completely filled the sky above the castle.
It was as if the entire sky was dyed golden by this light.
"Just what kind of phenomenon is this?" The three of us couldn’t help saying in shocked voices.
In the end, the two of them looked at me as if they were hoping that I knew something.
But all I could do was shake my head to show that I didn’t know anything about this.
Though that wasn’t the whole truth.
I could tell that this was related to the birth of Angela and my child.
