Secrets
In the Galark Kingdom’s castle.
The day after the battle with the golem, when everyone regained their memories of Rio. While Rio was heading to the royal castle during the day, Miharu remained at the mansion, preparing lunch with everyone.
The pleasant sound of a knife chopping echoed in the kitchen. While Miharu focused on her tasks, Sayo, Sara, Orphia, and Alma exchanged glances, trying to communicate something among themselves. And then—
“Um, Lady Miharu,”
Sayo opened her mouth as if gathering her resolve and called out to Miharu.
“Hmm, what is it?”
Miharu paused her chopping.
“Well, um, after that, did something else happen with Sir Haruto?”
“Eh?”
As Sayo asked her question, Sara, Orphia, and Alma quickly approached Miharu as well. Before she knew it, she was surrounded by Sayo, Sara, Orphia, and Alma—
“Um… when you say, ‘after that’…?”
Miharu faltered, looking off in the distance. It was a reaction that suggested she understood the question but was pretending not to.
“It's about what happened after the kiss!”
Sayo and the others spoke in unison.
“W-What? Nothing happened! I was so embarrassed I couldn't even look him in the eye…”
Miharu's face turned bright red as she looked down.
“......”
The others exchanged silent glances, and then—
“In the morning, I noticed the scent of Haruto on Miharu,”
Sara cleared her throat with a cough and began speaking.
“Eh? Haruto-san's scent…?”
Miharu was taken aback and tilted her head in confusion.
“Yes. The scent was quite strong, as if you were very close to each other, so I was curious…”
Under normal circumstances, it would be ridiculous to say such a thing, but when it comes from Sara, the wolf beastman with a keen sense of smell, it could very well serve as solid evidence.
“Miharu didn’t participate in the morning training, so I was wondering if she met with Haruto somewhere we didn’t know about.”
“Haruto was training with us, so if they did meet, it must have been at night,” Orphia and Alma conjectured, each building on the conversation.
“W-Well, that’s... ah…”
Miharu was about to deny it, saying there was no way that could be true, but her expression changed as if she had realized something. She recalled being manipulated by Lina and barging into Rio's bedroom.
When Miharu regained consciousness, she had been on top of Rio, which likely caused his scent to stick to her due to their close proximity.
“...Huh?”
Sara and the others urged her to continue in unison, but—
“N-Nothing happened!”
Miharu shook her head, her voice rising in pitch.
“Isn’t that a reaction that suggests there’s something going on!?”
“That’s right!”
“Does that mean something actually happened!?”
“There shouldn't be any secrets between us, right, Miharu-chan?”
Sara and the others surrounded Miharu with lively chatter.
Then, Seria, Latifah, and Komomo also joined the conversation, and Miharu found herself being interrogated about what had happened before Rio returned.
