CHAPTER 1 STORY 36
Amnesia and Avelia
“Apparently, if two people have a really good relationship, they can enjoy a conversation even if it doesn’t really go anywhere.”
“What’s this all of a sudden, Avelia?”
In response to my overly abrupt statement, my older sister questioned me, tilting her head to the side adorably. Her expression was so puzzled, I could almost see the question mark hovering above her head.
I regurgitated the contents of the book I had read earlier.
“Apparently, being able to have a pleasant and entertaining conversation with someone even when the topic is trivial is proof that you have a deep connection with that person. Isn’t that wonderful?”
“Huh… Well, I guess so.”
“Which means, Big Sister…”
“Yeah?”
“Let’s talk about something trivial.”
“I thought you were going to say that.”
My sister screwed up her face unpleasantly.
However, I persisted.
“Please?”
“Fine.”
“What I’m asking for is a conversation about something trivial, which furthermore has no real climax or conclusion, and that concerns a topic even I can understand.”
“That’s asking a lot.”
“I think I’ll get depressed if it turns into a boring conversation, so…”
“It’s hard to come up with an interesting conversation on demand, though…”
I’d raised the bar for our conversation too high, and as a result, my big sister let out a sigh. Despite how suddenly I had made the request, my sister still folded her arms.
“An interesting conversation, huh…?” She hummed in thought—“Hmm…”—and pondered the question for a little while.
Then she said, “I’ve got nothing.”
She quickly, abruptly gave up and ended the conversation.
“Do you have anything interesting to talk about, Avelia?”
“Something interesting to talk about?”
Just like my big sister, I folded my arms, hummed, and pondered—actually, I didn’t do any of that. I immediately answered, “Nothing here.”
“Right.” My sister nodded slightly to me after I answered. Then she asked, “By the way, Avelia, were you bored just now, conversing with me?”
Again, I immediately answered, “I wasn’t bored.”
To which my sister nodded. “Right.” And then she smiled softly. “Me neither.”
Our conversation didn’t really have any other conclusion.

On the fourth drama CD, there’s a scene where Amnesia talks about Elaina being a bad person, but after we were done recording the CD, I learned that there are some very similar famous lines in a certain anime that Konomi Kohara appears in. Oh no, without meaning to, I wrote a parody! I thought, but, well, it turns out the anime didn’t use those lines in the main storyline either!
